A Bit About Moosehead Breweries
Moosehead Breweries are an unapologetically patriotic brand. And rightly so - as the only remaining major brewery in Canada that is still owned by Canadians, they have the right to be proud of being the oldest independent brewery in Canada. In fact, Moosehead Breweries is as old as its beloved nation itself, having been established by the Oland family in the same year as Canada was established in 1867.
Since then, supported by the unwavering commitment of the Oland family, Moosehead Breweries has survived devastating fires, Prohibition, the Great Depression, two world wars, obstructive trade barriers, and bruising competition from much larger breweries - oh, and let’s add a global pandemic to that list for good measure!

The main brewery is located in Saint John, New Brunswick, and these days it is responsible for producing over 20 different beers! The running of the business has now fallen to the 6th generation of the Oland family, so this is a company that knows its stuff when it comes to all things beer. And this experience has not gone unnoticed, with Moosehead Breweries now holding around 4% of the Canadian market share.
Moosehead Breweries’ commitment to their community goes further than just serving them great beer. Whether it's raising money for local food banks, supporting local fundraising efforts, helping produce hand sanitizer during Covid-19, or donating to hospitals and charities, the team at Moosehead are always keen to show their community spirit. The first product we would like to introduce you to is Moosehead Light, which is a 4% ABV light lager. A true Canadian style lager, Moosehead Light has a crisp and refreshing taste with a very smooth finish. It has a well-balanced flavour that pairs well with spicy dishes such as Indian curries or BBQ bratwursts, and also complements more subtle flavours such as oysters or very mild, fresh cheeses.
